I think that people don’t really understand that you don’t need a whole lot of technical savvy to hit the publish button on the pre-formatted thingies.

I mean, I’m not saying that I’m super-cool but I don’t think that I’m smart enough to be considered a geek for realz.

I don't think that blogging is inherently geeky anymore. I think that like you said, many of the women whose blogs I read (including me!) don't know much about programming. The idea of self hosting scares the poop out of me because I just don't know how. Some of my friends think I'm a geek because of my blog, but I honestly don't care. I am PROUD of my blog, and my writing, and nothing can change that.
