The air down there
I rarely travel, but this year I’ve made three trips – one to Detroit and two to Chicago. And each time, I’ve gotten a pounding headache that lasted from the moment I landed until the moment I took off again. I tried not to complain about it (except intermittently to Mayberry Mom – that’s the curse of being my roommate), but I have to wonder if it’s due to the air pressure, being so much closer to sea level than I usually am.
The humidity was as horrific as I knew it would be. I didn’t even have to leave the hotel for my hair to frizz; it happened the moment I stepped out of our room and into the hallway. I felt marginally better to see that Liz’s hair also acquired a bit of curl, but frankly mine looked as if I’d stuck my finger in the socket.
And after spending the weekend responding, “Oh yes, I feel much better than I did,” when people asked about exhaustion and morning sickness, I came home last night and threw up for the first time in over a year.
So while I’m not feeling all that physically fantastic, the air down there was filled with love and friendship, and my heart is filled with warm fuzzy feelings, thanks to all of the old and new friends whom I was thrilled to see this past weekend.
Click on over to Flickr to see the lovely goodies that some lovely people gave to me, additional photo evidence of our Friday night antics, and some really awful shots of my frizzy hair and shiny face. I’d join you, but I’ve got another appointment with the porcelain god.

I know what you mean about the headaches…
I spend a good part of the conference with that whoozy drunk feeling and I hadn’t had anything stronger than the bottled water yet.
It was nice to meet you at BlogHer. I really enjoy reading your blog

Ha, and of course today the humidity is back down to a comfy 36%.

Okay yes, the headaches? Pressure and humidity. I have become a total Advil addict since moving here. (Not to mention the rest of the new addictions, such as Allegra-D and margaritas.)
Sorry you had that and the sickness too.
But glad you got the warm fuzzies.

Though we didn’t spend as much time together I shall relish the memory of going up your skirt.
And that’s all I’ll say about that.

Here’s to hoping that your morning sickness passes quickly!

Also, you should see my hair currently. I went to the pool with the kids. I am a scary sight.

“A bit of curl” = understatement of the day.
I think you were glowing and delicious.

Julie – I thought you looked great! It was lovely to see you again and wear your glow-in-the dark necklace.
Did Mayberry tell you my silly idea? If you name the baby Dorothy, you can call her Dot for short. Then you can keep your MotherGooseMouse Dot Com brand unaltered. Haha!
Hope that the nausea passes quickly.

I’m just sorry to hear you had to go to Detroit
I’m a native of the Motor City (where the weak are killed and eaten),

I’ve traveled my fair share this year, too. I didn’t have the headaches, but I was in a constant state of dizzy. Blech. Here’s hoping you feel better soon.
