Differences and firsts

Finally, as promisedour first Different Kinds of Parents feature over at Parent Bloggers. You won’t be disappointed.

——————————

Between Cheryl at Red Pens and Diapers and Smiling Mom at Beneath the Mask, I’m on the hook to reveal eighteen things about myself. Eighteen NEW things. Considering how much dirty laundry I’ve aired over the past two years, I’m a bit daunted.

So I’ll tell you some of my “firsts”. Hopefully no one will be too shocked or dismayed (that means you, Dad).

1. I took my first ballet lesson when I was four.

2. I took my first Chinese lesson when I was six.

3. I took my first piano lesson when I was seven.

4. I also took my first swimming lesson when I was seven.

5. I took my first harp lesson when I was twelve.

6. I got my ears pierced for the first time when I was thirteen.

7. I took my first ski lesson when I was fourteen.

8. I went on my first date when I was fourteen.

9. I had my first boyfriend when I was fifteen.

10. I got in my first car accident when I was sixteen.

11. I got my first D (Physics) when I was seventeen.

12. I threw up from excess alcohol consumption the first time when I was seventeen.

13. I was…um…deflowered when I was eighteen.

14. I got my first F (Linear Circuits) when I was nineteen.

15. I shot a gun and flew a plane for the first time when I was twenty-one.

16. I got my first college degree when I was twenty-three.

17. I had my first baby when I was thirty.

18. I started my first blog when I was thirty-three.

And while I’m not going to tag eighteen people, I’ll tag five:

Fairly Odd Mother
Get In the Car!
Life: The Ongoing Education
Mother Bumper
Quarter Rest

Look how well-rounded you are, with your Chinese and your harp and your linear circuits! Color me impressed.

  2. motherbumper Says:

Oh my – I’ve been tagged. Let’s see if I retained enough enough brain cells since my first inhale to remember the rest of my firsts!

  3. motherbumper Says:

And I would have gotten an F in Linear Circuits too, if I knew what that course was even about.

  4. Yemi Says:

Holy cow! You have an impressive memory!

  5. Jen M. Says:

I’ve got to compete with flying planes and harps? Christ….thinking of things to make up for Monday ;)

  7. Lara Says:

dang, that is an impressive list. i’d be curious to know when some of the “lasts” were. i mean, you took so many first lessons – do you still do all those things? i took lots of lessons, but usually my “last” lesson was only about a year after my “first” (it took me a long time to find the things i liked). :)

    thanks for the tag!

  8. alison Says:

Linear Circuits? Dear God, why even sign up for that??

  9. Smiling Mom Says:

Ooh, thank you, thank you!! Great list. When I was reading I thought you said you had your first baby at thirteen, not thirty. I did a double take. :-)

  10. Fairly Odd Mother Says:

Is it weird that I wanted to high five you and say, “Hey! I was deflowered at 18 TOO!” Yeah, I thought so.

OK, I’ll do my assignment shortly. Hope I don’t scare away the family members who read my blog.

  11. Fairly Odd Mother Says:
