Here’s to our health
While I could probably name hundreds of reasons to be thankful this year, I’d like to focus on health.
First of all, my friend’s husband was discharged yesterday. Yes, you read that right. They still don’t know exactly what took him down - so hard that the chaplain was brought in - but he was off the ventilator and talking within twenty-four hours. I don’t throw around the word “miracle”, but I’m hard-pressed to think of a better descriptor.
Second, my dear friend Jamie - who has been struggling with conception (and that’s putting it lightly) since I was pregnant with CJ - recently had her 20-week ultrasound, revealing a healthy little girl.
Those are the two most recent developments. But I’m also thankful that my father’s kidney stones didn’t aggravate him on my parents’ trip to China earlier this month, that my grandmother was well enough to visit us last month (and plans to do so again soon), that Kyle’s father came through delicate surgery with flying colors and his hearing intact.
I’m thankful that my family understands the value of preventative medicine - the benefits of regular physicals, dental exams, eye exams. I’m thankful that we know enough to listen to our bodies and care for them appropriately, including keeping active. I’m thankful that we do the same for our minds as well.
Care for yourselves and for each other. Make sure you’ll have many more Thanksgivings together.

Great news about your friend. My ex had a similar problem like that, collapsing for no reason. Very scary stuff. I’m glad to hear he’s being released!
Happy Thanksgiving!

Wow, you’ve had some scary scares recently. I’m thankful that you’re all healthy, and so are we, and I’m very thankful for good friends too!

While I was getting ready this afternoon the house up the street exploded and went up in flames. Talk about making you thankful. What a reminder.

So glad for your friend’s husband–I have wondered about him since you posted about that night. And for Jamie–woohoo!
It’s all good and we really are fine machinery that need to be kept well oiled and tuned–and not abuse our bodies.
Well said…

I think it’s easy to forget how thankful we should be about having good health; we remember when things go wrong.
Fine post.
Hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving!
