Michelle is bananas, B-A-N-A-N-A-S
Tacy loves Gwen Stefani. She calls her “Hollaback Girl”. As in, “Can we please listen to Hollaback Girl?” She doesn’t mean the song “Hollaback Girl” – she means Gwen herself. Any song will do.
I don’t want to hear about how listening to Gwen Stefani is a bad influence. I worked at a company where our CIO would listen to Eminem at top volume. And Tacy does NOT listen to Eminem.
Anyway, the CD has the uncensored version of the song “Hollaback Girl”. As much as I use profanity in my writing, I am careful to refrain at home. Most of the time. So Tacy has not yet recognized the profanity in “Hollaback Girl”. And we have been free to make up our own words.
Now I’m just waiting for the mother of her classmate Michelle to complain about how my child sings a song about how her child is bananas, B-A-N-A-N-A-S.

Our school district’s Junior High cheerleading squad wanted to do a routine to “Hollaback Girl”, until some of the parents protested about the “profanity and inappropriate subject matter”. It was a big story in the local paper and everything. To tell the truth, maybe I’m just old but I can never understand the lyrics in songs these days, I doubt Tacy does either!

Too funny! Mia loves that song, too. She loves Beyonce, too, and that drives me crazy…

I confess……I love “Hollaback Girl” too. Sing and dance in the car while it’s on.

Davey LOVES that song – the profanity laced version is regularly played at our house. He has no clue. I think. And he calls Gwen “Hollaback Girl”, too. When “Cool” was on, he goes: “Oh, this is by Hollaback Girl. I love her.”

Oh, I am such a dork. I have never heard the whole song, although I did hear the end of it once on MTV. How out of touch with reality am I?

My kids love the Black Eyed Peas and well, lets just say there are some choice lyrics in some of the songs that I hope my kids never recognize.
